“The Word of God is always ‘in the beginning.’ And this means that it is always in the process of being born and is always already born.”
— Meister Eckhart, as adapted by Matthew Fox, Meditations With Meister Eckhart
Meditatio
Before we were even a whisper on His breath, an utterance on His lips, the Word was with God and the Word was God. There was no time when the Word was not, for the Word was and is God’s thought, through which all of creation was imagined and spoken into being, through which we are imagined and spoken into being.
And so when out of God’s mouth we were spoken, we were spoken through His Word, and through His Spirit life was breathed into us. Out of nothing, the Word brought forth the dust. Out of dust, the Spirit brought forth life in us, breathing God’s very self into that which does not breathe. Our breath, the beating of our hearts, and the consciousness of our minds are an echo of His Word reverberating through the dust made flesh being birthed in every moment.
And the Word is not finished being spoken. In this breath, this heartbeat, the Word is being born — always already, out of eternity and into this moment — in and as our very lives. Through His Word, we are given life. And through His Word, we are given participation in the eternal birthing of the Word so that we may remain with the Word in the mind of God for all of eternity.
Oratio

The Eternal Dance
God breathes
life dances
singing His song
until He ceases
He shall never cease
breathing
singing
dancing
the eternal dance
loving into being
all that was
all that is
all that ever shall be
God’s Word
God’s Love
Godself
breathing
singing
dancing
the eternal dance
Contemplatio
Notice your breath. You did not begin it, and you are not the one holding it up. Each breath is God’s breath moving through dust, the eternal dance going on in you. Rest in silence, and let yourself be danced.
