The devil wants me
to name myself
by my pride and vanity
my guilt and shame
my anger and fear
my success and failure
he wants me to take on
any name besides the name
given to me by the Lord
who calls me beloved
who calls me son or daughter
who calls me friend
I will not be named by Satan
only the God who knew me
before I was
in my mother’s womb
may give me my name
