We create our own isolation
our own desolation
our own living hell
in separation
from the one who loves us
who created us
the one to whom
we are called to return
in love
in hope
in salvation
we choose worldly pleasure
wealth
acclaim
turning away from heaven
choosing our own hell
forgetting that eternity
starts now
~Robert Van Valkenburgh
Reflection:
Where in your life are you choosing temporary comforts over the lasting peace found in God’s presence?
Scripture:
“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?” — Mark 8:36
