The cold air creeps in
the sky darkens
days grow shorter
swallowed by the night
as autumn makes way
for winter’s quiet stillness
and in that quiet stillness
we are invited to slow down
to rest and reflect
to cherish the warmth
of a fire or a friend
fighting off death’s chill
together
