Ruby reds
oranges
and yellows
touch the sky
marking the changing
of the seasons
darkness lingers
as days shorten
the quiet of winter
looms in the air
a reminder
that all things pass
this world is not forever
eternity has neither leaves
nor tears
~Robert Van Valkenburgh
