Grappling With Divinity

I never knew silence
until your spirit
descended upon me
my mind restless
from reaching into the future
clinging onto the past
my body weary
from bearing the weight
of my wayward ways
your grace stood me still
broke me down
tore away my false hopes
my misguided desires
my self-centered fears
until all that was left was you
the darkness from which I once ran
became my comfort
the quiet my place of rest
with your yoke upon my soul
in my solitude
