Lectio Divina: The Dew Of God

“And like parched ground, which yields no harvest unless it receives moisture, we who were once like a waterless tree could never have lived and borne fruit without this abundant rainfall from above… If we are not to be scorched and made unfruitful, we need the dew of God.”
~St. Irenaeus of Lyons

Reflection:
In what ways do I recognize my need for the “dew of God,” and where might I be relying on my own strength instead of opening myself to divine grace?

Scripture:
“I will be like the dew to Israel; he shall blossom like the lily; he shall take root like the trees of Lebanon.”
— Hosea 14:5
